As a Business Development Intern, you’ll be an integral part of the Ursa Major Growth Team, working from our Washington, DC office. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of strategic business development, marketing and communication, and government affairs—all within the rapidly evolving aerospace and defense industry. You’ll support critical functions across the team, including market research, policy tracking, stakeholder engagement, and office operations.

Responsibilities
Research & Analysis
- Conduct research on market trends, competitors, policy developments, and government funding priorities in the aerospace and defense sectors to support strategic planning.
- Assist in drafting internal briefings and analysis that translate research findings into actionable insights for business development initiatives.
- Track business development engagement metrics via CRM platforms to support team project timelines.
Strategic & Legislative Tracking
- Monitor Congressional hearings, legislation, executive actions, and space policy developments; provide concise summaries and readouts to the team.
- Support the preparation of read-ahead materials, stakeholder bios, and legislative overviews for meetings with government and industry partners.
Communications & Engagement
- Draft internal memos, PowerPoint decks, and external communications to support briefings, stakeholder meetings, and strategic initiatives.
- Assist in planning and executing in-person and virtual events, including logistics coordination, materials development, and follow-up communications.
- Assist in the execution of various marketing needs that develops business development, engages external audiences, and ensures campaigns and deliverables stay on schedule.
Administrative Support
- Support day-to-day office functions including stocking supplies, managing mail, organizing shared spaces, and preparing the office for meetings and guest visits.
- Assist with the preparation and printing of meeting materials, coordinate internal document management, and help maintain an organized and professional office environment.
- Organize, maintain, and manage the company’s digital asset library, ensuring files are properly categorized, updated, and readily accessible to internal teams.
- Other Marketing/Communications and Business Development tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate program in Business Administration, Public Policy, Marketing & Communications, Aerospace Engineering, Space Science, or a related field
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information from technical and policy sources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
- Interest in aerospace, defense, space policy, or advanced technologies
Preferred:
- Prior internship or project experience in a government, consulting, corporate, or technical research environment
- Familiarity with CRM platforms
- Coursework or project work related to the aerospace and defense industry, national security, or space policy
- Experience attending or covering policy, industry, or academic events and summarizing key insights
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $29.00/hour, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
