The journey to space starts with the engines.

Ursa Major was founded to bring a new model to space access: one in which every link in an enormous value chain isn’t limited by those around it. We design rocket engines and propulsion solutions.
Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team. A team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.

Our facilities continue to expand, and we are looking for a people leader to manage expansion activities and be responsible for the day-to-day facility issues. Growing headcount means several challenges that this role will tackle. This person must be highly adaptable, have an incredibly high work quality standard, and enjoy the unique challenge of facility growth. Furthermore, our facilities are a physical representation of our attention to detail, so this role must hold the line on cleanliness and organization.

Job Focus Areas and Expectations

  • Maintain and report an annual facility budget (between $1M and $20M). This will fluctuate based on business requirements and necessitate creativity to deploy resources responsibly.
  • Maintains excellent facility cleanliness, manages janitorial services, and ensures the site is always prepared for showing at any time.
  • Manage and maintain physical site security with obstructions, processes, and personnel focused on keeping our people, buildings, and hardware secure.
  • Skilled and experienced with facility maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinkler, and general construction work. Can rely on outside contractors where it makes sense.
  • Primary point of contact for non-test stand facility expansion. Acts as an ‘internal general contractor.’
  • Work with design teams, end-users, and equipment manufacturers on significant capital projects.
  • Review job requests to determine priorities, and schedule installation, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Create a preventative maintenance program using both internal and contracted support.
  • Responsible for oversight of all aspects of installation and maintenance of manufacturing systems and site-wide infrastructure.
  • On-call for emergencies (ex: water breaks, power dropouts, sewage backups)
  • Manages non-test facility Job Safety Analysis.
  • Non-test site commodity management.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in trade work.
  • Experience managing contractors or contract labor.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility management.
  • Demonstrated construction experience (new builds, facility expansion).
  • A deep desire to grow responsibilities as facilities expand.

Benefits Include:

  • Unlimited PTO - Vacation, Sick, Personal, and Bereavement

URSA'S COVID POLICY:
As a U.S. government contractor, Ursa Major is subject to President Biden’s September 9, 2021 Executive Order on Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors requiring federal contractors to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19. However, recently a federal judge in Georgia issued a nationwide preliminary injunction that prohibits the government from enforcing the federal contractor vaccine mandate. The order covers all contractors and subcontractors in the United States and its territories, and will be in place until further notice. Additionally, while Ursa Major is still subject to OSHA’s Emergency Temporary Standard given our 100+ employees, its implementation and enforcement is currently suspended pending future developments in the litigation.
Given these updates, we are suspending the Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy until further notice. With this is mind, Ursa Major fully intends to comply immediately with changes to any COVID-19 mandates.
