Ursa Major produces fantastic engines with complex parts and assemblies. The Inspection Team plays a critical role in verifying internally and externally generated features. The sheer number of components and complexity of checks require excellent communication between Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and others. We are looking for an individual to lead the Inspection Team, ensuring that complex checks are performed accurately, that communication is smooth, and that inspection processes are continually improved to reduce waiting and errors. This position is listed as Inspection Lab Supervisor but internally is called Inspection Lead.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of stellar inspection individuals including training, managing performance, and development
- Coordinate with Production Control and Engineering development programs to handle competing priorities for Inspection Team resources
- Address missing information and documentation with Receiving, Engineering, and other interested parties
- Brainstorm and execute projects to improve visibility to the inspection queue for other departments and reduce lead time in inspection
- Standardize processes and documents
- Perform or coordinate training
- Ensure that inspection spaces are well organized and stocked to meet operational needs
- Report performance metrics for the inspection lab
- Other duties as directed by Quality leadership
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience inspecting complex products or assemblies
- Excellent communication skills
- Critical thinking skills to address problems autonomously
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to manage the Inspection Team and build relationships with other departments
- Cultural approach that matches the cohesive, conviction, and humility values of Ursa Major
Desired Experience:
- Experience directing or managing other employees
- Experience scheduling or prioritizing tasks from multiple incoming sources
- ASQ or other quality-related certification
- Experience with lean principles, 5S, Kanban systems, or six sigma
- Experience with complex machined components, avionics, assemblies, or subassemblies
- Familiarity with automated inspection equipment

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $85,000 - $135,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
