Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.
Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.
As an Additive Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in qualifying and advancing additive manufacturing (AM) processes, machines, and parts across our internal production and external supply chain. Your primary responsibility is to ensure all AM-related activities meet stringent aerospace quality standards and are fully documented for traceability, repeatability, and regulatory compliance. You will serve as a quality lead across internal and supplier-facing projects, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality teams.

- Conduct and document First Article Inspections (FAIs), capability studies, and root cause analyses related to AM parts.
- Serve as the quality interface with additive manufacturing suppliers, supporting audits, technical reviews, and corrective actions.
- Participate in internal development projects to mature AM processes, focusing on process capability, repeatability, and material quality.
- Own and execute AS9102 documentation, inspection planning, and risk mitigation strategies for AM parts.
- Contribute to the development of AM-specific quality standards and best practices within Ursa Major's QMS.
- Support the integration of in-situ monitoring data and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) results into the part qualification process.
- Mentor cross-functional team members on AM quality standards, documentation, and compliance.
- Travel 25% of the time to visit suppliers, headquarters, and partners for audits, inspections, and collaborative development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field; equivalent experience considered.
- 1 - 4+ years of quality engineering experience, including experience in aerospace additive manufacturing.
