Ursa Major’s Summer 2026 Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the aerospace and defense industry while contributing to meaningful, high-impact projects that support our mission and drive innovation in propulsion and advanced manufacturing.
As a Combustion Devices Engineering Intern, you will be supporting our Launch Engines team. You will be challenged with supporting the dynamic environment of propulsion design, development, manufacturing, test, and production.
Responsibilities:
- 3D Modeling & Design (hardware, GSE, tooling, assembly aids)
- Engineering Drawings (2D drafting and geometric tolerancing per ASME Y14.5)
- Analysis (hand calcs, structural, CFD)
- Additive manufacturing, machining, proof testing, and assembly support
- Test stand buildout, test article assembly, and test support of component testing
- Test data review and analysis
- Technical presentations
Required Qualifications:
- Background in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering
- Must be an academic Junior and above by May 2025 (experience with Fluids, Mechanics of Materials, and other advanced classes)
- Excellent with first principle analysis with mechanical and/or fluid-based scenarios
- Hands-on build and/or test experience (design > build > test lifecycle of a project)
- Demonstrated teamwork and ability to communicate eƯectively in a group setting
- Drive to continuously improve technical and team skills
- Experience with CAD software is preferred
Program Details:
- Location: On-site at our Berthoud, CO facility
- Duration: Approximately 10–12 weeks
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
- This is a paid internship
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $29.00/hour, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
