Ursa Major’s Summer 2026 Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the aerospace and defense industry while contributing to meaningful, high-impact projects that support our mission and drive innovation in propulsion and advanced manufacturing.
As an Systems Engineering, Hadley Intern, you will be on a small, fast-moving team, you will be challenged with supporting the dynamic environment of propulsion design, development, manufacturing, test, and production. You will receive hands-on experience while helping solve difficult engineering problems. We thrive on giving ownership and authority, so you can expect to make decisions and make a difference!
Responsibilities:
- Help verify Hadley systems are designed and perform as necessary to meet internal and external requirements
- Support leads and subsystem teams in defining, validating and maintaining requirements through engine development programs
- Create and manage system engineering tools and processes to aid in requirements verification
- Review test and analysis plans and reports to assist with confirmation that requirements are met
Required Qualifications:
- Background in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or systems engineering
- Experience with a coding language (Python preferred, Matlab, etc.)
- Experience applying aerospace systems engineering processes – design reviews, requirements development, requirements validation and verification, failure and risk assessments
- Demonstrated organization skills
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity in all its forms as well as contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
- Demonstrated teamwork and ability to communicate effectively in a group setting
- Drive to continuously improve technical and team skills
Preferred Experience:
- Solid rocket motor/liquid rocket engine/propulsion system/or fluid system design, analysis, development, or test
- Familiarity with liquid rocket engine cycles and operational principles
Program Details:
- Location: On-site at our Berthoud, CO facility
- Duration: Approximately 10–12 weeks
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
- This is a paid internship
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $29.00/hour, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
